    Florence was born in 1908 in Upper Westwood. Her mother was Alice Louisa Elkins and her father was William James Hillier. Her middle name, Emily was taken from her grandmother on her fathers side but it is not sure where the name Rosina comes from. She was the fourth child of five siblings, there names were Bertie, Vera, Charles and Walter. There were seven children but according to the 1911 census 2 children had died before the census had been completed, also living with the family is Williams mother Emily who was a widow at this time.

       Florence married Nelson Frank Hudd in 1932 in the parish of Frome in Woolverton. The location of the marriage was at St Lawrance Church. Woolverton was a prominent part of both of the newly weds lives as Florence’s father was born there and also Nelsons father and mother lived there at the time too.

 

       The couple would go on to have six children. June in 1932 was born in the first year of the couples marriage. They were living in Heywood in Wiltshire at this time. Charles was born in 1933 at Farleigh Hungerford on the Wiltshire, Somerset county border. Brian was born in 1935, Stuart in 1938, Terence in 1941 and Jane in 1950.

 

       Florence would have had to been a very organized housewife. Looking after six children and helping Nelson run a dairy farm in Westwood called Midway Farm. The farm is now a liveries and has been named after the Hudd family by recent residents.

       After Florence and Nelson left Midway Farm, they moved into a bungalow in Lower Westwood which was not to far away from where they were living. This is located on Boswell Road and just on the entrance of Hebden Road. When Nelson and Florence had passed away, Terence, their youngest son stayed living at the bungalow and has continued to live there. Florence died six years after her husband in 1993 at the age of 90 in Melksham, Wiltshire. By her side when she died was her youngest daughter Jane. Florence was cremated at Haycombe crematorium and cemetery in Bath. Her remains were interred with her husband, Nelson in section 14 of the cremation area called Sandlestones.
